In honor of the life and legacy of our founder,

The Late Pastor Dearin L. Crockett

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” – Psalm 116:15

Pastor Dearin L. Crockett was a man of God who was a giant in the Spirit, yet, gentle in heart – he was “The Perfect Gentleman”.  Born on April 8, 1984 in Columbus, OH to Anamaria Crockett and Wendell Chapman Jr., Dearin accepted Christ as his personal Savior at a very young age.

He was raised in the Church of God and Saints of Christ where the word of God was instilled in him. He was ordained as a junior Deacon by the late Evangelist Jesse Hendricks at the age of 10 and ordained as a Deacon by Bishop Lenton Stevens by the age of 13. Dearin loved God and the work of ministry.

He graduated from Fort Hayes High School (2002) and earned his BA in Communications with a minor in Theater (2006) from Kent State University.  After graduating he moved to California in pursuit of his acting career where he worked on various projects. “From stage to screen and everything in the between . . .” including improv comedy, theatre, film, and commercials. Dearin truly loved the arts. However, his love for God prevailed and he answered the call to go deeper in ministry.

He had no way of knowing that this pursuit of God’s calling would open new doors of purpose and destiny in his life. A chance meeting of Denesha Henry would lead to her connecting him to the first door towards destiny when she invited him to visit her church, The Kingdom Church of Los Angeles now named The City of God where Pastor/Prophet John Brown is the Founding Pastor. He became a member.

His love for God and the Word was transforming him and he was given the responsibility of leading the Christian Education Department. He also worked in the Outreach/Evangelism Ministry, served as a trusted confidant and an armor bearer working diligently under the tutelage of his pastor.  His faithfulness resulted in him being ordained as an Elder in the church. He would eventually become a founding board member of the newly established “Consortium”.

Next, He would confirm that the woman who initially invited him to this new place would also be his forever love. Denesha (or Lovey as he would call her) would not only become his best friend and the love of his life, but also his partner in ministry.

The more Dearin grew in God, the more he knew he was called to pastor. Determined to give God and God’s people the best, he continued to pursue his education and earned his M.A degree in Christian Education and Pastoral Leadership. He then began to pursue his doctorate at Grand Canyon University in Education with an emphasis in Organizational Leadership.

Dearin officially accepted his call to pastor in 2015. The Holy Spirit directed Dearin and Denesha to move back to Columbus, OH and in February 2016, they were moved by the Spirit to establish New Covenant Faith Ministries which later became Rejuvenate Church. Dearin was a bi-vocational pastor serving the ministry full-time and working first at Aerotek and then Grove City Christian School where he became a beloved teacher, mentor, and friend to many of his students, their parents, and the faculty.

On Friday, June 5, 2020, Pastor Dearin was called from labor to reward. He is loved and missed.
